Hiked end of October and there was no snow or ice! Scramble was fun (not good for dogs fyi, paws). The total distance from the TH to standing at Upper Thunder Lake is very close to 7.0 miles. Beautiful views. From here its a rolling 4.5 miles of climbing with a few switch backs and a number of gorgeous meadows that the PCT cuts through up to Trap Pass. Hiking Trails. Once you get to the top of Trap Pass and separate from the PCT again, it gets very steep again which I felt wasnt super reflected in the map. A nice hike, not too challenging. A visually stimulating hike from start to finish. Very scenic with a couple of bridges across the river and a long tunnel to ride or walkthrough. There are some boulder fields that were kind of tricky for our dog, so be mindful of that if bringing your pup. Near the end of the trail it follows alongside Tunnel Mountain road across from the campground and it was much busier at that end of the trail. Beautiful short hike, little slippery with recent snow fall but manageable.
